Dr. Amos Fowler, born on July 5, 1820, in Cohocton, New York, emerged as a prominent physician in Albany after years of dedication to medical practice. His ancestors settled in Herkimer County, contributing to the region’s development. Educated locally, Fowler pursued medicine despite initial discouragement from his father, training under notable doctors and graduating from the University of the City of New York in 1846. He became well-regarded for his successful treatments during epidemics, and his extensive practice established him as a vital medical figure in Albany.
