At her residence in South Portland, March 2, 1890. Mrs. Mary Lichtenthaler, aged 84 years. Deceased, was one of the pioneers of Oregon, having come to Portland in 1853. Several days ago, she suffered an attack of La grippe and speedily grew worse until death relieved her from her earthly pain. Mrs. Lichtenhaler was the mother of Hon. D.W. Lichenthaler, of this city. Cove, Union County, Oregon Mr. A.J. Foster of the Cove, died at his home Thursday evening at 8:15 o’clock. He had been in poor health the past year, suffering with a bronchial affection which ultimately caused his death. He was 60(?) years of age. On Sunday F.O. Hartvigeen (?) received word that his little daughter was very ill with pneumonia at Gul de Sac, Idaho. He left at once but the little one passed away before his arrival and was buried Tuesday morning. The little girl was seventeen months of age. Her mother is also quite seriously ill with influenza. F.L. Wade received a telegram from Portland, Wednesday announcing the death of his father, which occurred in the latter city on that date. Mr. Wade left on the evening train for Portland to attend the funeral. Patrick Wade was a resident of Elgin for a number of years, having come here from Iowa. Enterprise, Wallowa County, Oregon, Chas. W. Berry died Monday morning at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Berry, of pneumonia resulting from influenza. He was ill only thirteen days. He was born at Imbler and was 20 years and 6 months of age. Besides his parents he leaves 6 brothers and one sister. Two of the brothers, Claude and W. Herrin, Oliver – Obituary

A Mystery Solved The latter part of July last, Oliver Herrin, of Summerville, left the ranch of Terry Tuttle for the Blue mountains. Herrin was 24 years old, and at times acted strangely. When he left Tuttle’s he took a horse, blankets and rifle. Friday a hunting party found, nine miles from Summerville, the vest, watch and some of Herrin’s money. Saturday the searchers found his remains nearly consummed by fire. It is supposed the young man shot himself with the gun and fell into a fire of logs prepared by himself.
