Summerville, Union County, Oregon Near Summerville, December 12th. Mrs. E.S. Lewis, aged 50 years. Mrs. E. S. Lewis has not enjoyed good health for many years. She was highly esteemed by all who knew her. An avowed spiritualist, she calmly and contentedly passed to the higher life in the summer land, full of hope and confidence in the progressive future. Mrs. B.T. Long received word Thursday evening of the death of her father, P. L. Courtney at Payette, Idaho and left for that place Friday. M. O. Courtney of Lostine accompanied her. P. L. Courtney was one of the earliest settlers of the valley and lived here until recent years when he was compelled to try a different climate to relieve asthma from which he was a sufferer. Margaret Francis Golden, 2201 Orodell Blvd., died Friday at Valley View manor. She was 90. Mrs. Golden was born Oct. 31, 1892, at Summerville to Charles and Mary (Childers) Duggan. On Oct. 31, 1915 she married John Golden at Summerville. He preceded her in death in July 1945. Dorsey, an aged man who was making the trip from Kansas to Colfax, Wash, with private conveyaance and had as a companion his little 5 year old daughter, fell from his wagon, near Summerville, last Saturday and received injuries which proved fatal. Dr. Clouchek was called to see the injured man but could do nothing for him. Death came Sunday night, without Dorsey regaining consciousness.
