Duwamish Indians. The Duwamish tribe was located in Washington state, primarily along the Duwamish River and Seattle area. The Duwamish belonged to the Nisqually dialectic group of the coast division of the Salishan linguistic stock.

Baker City, Baker County, Oregon Susan Clair Lindley, 58, of Baker City, died May 14, 2006, at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Boise. After a courageous struggle, she died from complications after surgery. She also had a longtime battle with breast cancer. Wallowa, Oregon Joyce Lee Conner died Aug. 29, 2006. She was 71. Mrs. Conner was born April 4, 1935, in Wallowa. She graduated from Wallowa High School in 1953. She did all of the artwork for her high school yearbook, was a song leader, a member of the student council, and was the basketball homecoming queen. Abe L. Cooke Dies in Seattle Abe L. Cooke, 47, of Yakima, a former Ellensburg resident and a veteran of the first World War, died Wednesday in the Marine hospital in Seattle after an illness of several months. He was born April 27, 1897, at Coberg, Ore., the son of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Cooke, Kittitas valley pioneers.
