Lostine, Marion Hammack Is Called To His Rest Marion Hammack died at the Enterprise hospital Wednesday, February 28, 1940. He had not been strong for several years and had been helpless since he was struck by an automobile May 6, 1938. Funeral services were held in the Christian church at Lostine, Friday, and were attended by many friends and relatives, including all county officials in tribute and Commissioner F. W. (Floyd Waitman) Hammack, brother to the deceased. A quartet composed of Mrs. M. Stover of the Enterprise Community church were held in Lostine at 10 o’clock Monday morning for Roy H. Haun of Lostine, who passed away suddenly last Friday at his home. Vera K. Fisher died Feb. 14, 1990, at the Wallowa County Nursing Home in Enterprise. She was born Nov. 21, 1895, at LaGrande, the daughter of Judson W. and Frances (Baldwin) Draper. On June 21, 1913, she married James E. Fisher in Enterprise. He preceded her in death on March 9, 1959. As a young girl, attending school in Lostine, she won the state spelling bee contest. Mrs. Fisher was a homemaker and a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She and her husband farmed and later owned and operated two different restaurants. James A. Hammack, 37, Lostine, died Sunday, Jan.27, 1980, at Grande Ronde Hospital following an illness. Mr. Hammack, a milker and ranch hand, was born March 31, 1942 in Enterprise. Mr. Hammack, son of the late Albert Hammack of Enterprise, is survived by his mother, Mrs. John (Marion) Soares, of Enterprise; brothers, Donald H., of Ukiah and Chester W., of Parma, Idaho; and many other relatives. He and his family came here in the spring and were living on one of S.W. Miles farms. He was buried in the Lostine Cemetery Monday afternoon. He leaves a wife and one child.
