Purkes, Lena Floy Tozer Bowman – Obituary

Mrs. Lena F. Purkes, 92, of 800 Mechanic St., died at 5:35 P.M. Thursday in Fairview Medical Facility in Centerville where she had been a patient since January, 1972. She was born in LeRoy, Mich., July 26, 1880, to Mailand and Olive (Simonton) Tozer. She was married to Edson R. Bowman on April 18, 1902 in LeRoy. He died Aug. 7, 1944. On Oct. 12, 1951, she was married to Thomas Purkes in Angola, Ind. He died July 29, 1960. Mrs. Purkes was a member of the First Baptist Church. Bowman, Sylvester Gerald – Obituary

Sylvester G. Bowman, 55, Rt. 3, Reed City, died suddenly Saturday, March 12, at Reed City Hospital. He was born April 28, 1921, in Burdell Township, to Reuben and Cora (Holmes) Bowman. He lived in the LeRoy and Reed City areas all of his life and graduated from LeRoy High School in 1939. Mr. Bowman was employed with Conalco Industries since 1953 where he was a foreman. Johnson, Violet Evangeline Bowman – Obituary

Leroy-Violet E. Johnson, 79 of LeRoy, died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 1992, at Mercy Hospital in Cadillac. She was born April 6, 1913 near Tustin and was a lifelong resident of the LeRoy area. She is survived by one son, Terry of LeRoy; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren, one brother, Warren Bowman of LeRoy and three sisters, Edith (Mrs. Leonard) Johnson of Clare, Alberta Pierce of LeRoy, and Audrey (Mrs. Kenneth) Davis of Reed City. Two brothers and three sisters preceded her in death. Services were held Saturday, Sept. 12 at 11 a.m. from the Pruitt-Livingston Funeral Home in Reed City
