Roderick Wright, 58, of Tucson, Ariz., and a former Baker City resident, died July 22, 2003. His funeral was July 26 at Desert Sunset Funeral Home at Tucson. Roderick was born Aug. 31, 1945, at Ontario to James and Opal McClellan Wright. Growing up he worked in the family bee business, producing and distributing honey. He was a 1964 graduate of Baker High School. He joined the U.S. Army and later served in the National Guard. Funeral services for Carl Dean Savage, former Haines resident who died at his home in Yreka, California July 21, were held here Sunday. Norman P. Hammitt, who has resided in Lane County since 1850, died from heart failure Sunday night, June 2, 1901, at his home in Mohawk Valley, aged 73 years. Mrs. Jessie Nash Withrow, 78, of 2014 NW Glisan St., former switchboard operator for The Oregonian, died Thursday [September 4, 1969] at a local hospital after a long illness. Mrs. Withrow was born in Junction City, Sept. 13, 1890. She had lived in Portland for the past 60 years. She worked on The Oregonian’s switchboard for 23 years.
