La Grande, Oregon Mary Rhodig Cash, 97, of La Grande died Nov. 16 in La Grande. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Daniels Chapel of the Valley. Committal and burial will follow at the Island City Cemetery. Mrs. Cash was born June 29, 1909, to James Edward and Elizabeth Campbell Taylor in Almena, Kan. She married Russel L. Rhodig in April 1932, and the couple had four children, Twilla, Russel, Charles and Netha. Mr. Rhodig preceded her in death. In 1982 she married James D. Cash of La Grande. Mr. Cash died in 1986. Veteran La Grande Trainman Dies Jesse W(ells) Spencer, 53, for the past 32 years a conductor and brakeman for the Union Pacific railroad in the Grande Ronde valley, died at a local hospital yesterday. Coroner L.L. Snodgrass believed from a heart attack. He had undergone an operation for appendicitis. Enterprise, Wallowa County, Oregon Mrs. Leonard Baker passed away at the Grande Ronde hospital in La Grande Sunday, October 9, 1938. She had been ill only a week. The first trouble was reported as a blood clot in a vein and gangrene developed, necessitating the amputation of one leg. Other complications set in and quickly proved fatal.
