Joseph, Wallowa County, Oregon Henry James Cathcart, of La Grande, formerly of Joseph, passed away Thursday, September 2, 1965 at St. Joseph hospital in La Grande, following several months of ill health. Memorial services were held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Bollman Chapel with Rev. James E. Jones officiating. Mrs. Luella Miller was organist and Rev. Douglas T. Field was soloist and Sang “The Lord Is My Shepherd.” Casket bearers were: S.W. Joseph, Oregon Mildred Elva Cerato, 88, of College Place, Wash., died Dec. 11, 2003, on her birthday at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Walla Walla, Wash. She was born on Dec. 11, 1915 in Santa Ana, Calif. to George W. and Mary Ella (Pearce) Todd. In 1937, she married John A. Cerato and the couple lived and raised a family in California. Enterprise, Wallowa County, Oregon Marion Coverdale was found dead in his cabin near the river in Joseph on Wednesday of last week, July 12, 1922. He had been in poor health for some time and had been receiving care from Miss Mayme Peterson, county nurse. He lived alone. Mrs. H. P. Throe (Cala L. Fovargue) Joseph, Oregon Mrs. H.P. Throe, a pioneer of Union and Wallowa counties, died after an operation performed at the Enterprise Hospital. Cala L. Fovargue was born May 2nd, 1854, in Elkriver Township, Clinton County Iowa. She was married to Hans P. Throe January 14th 1872. In November of 1877 they moved to Abilene, Kansas. After residing there for three years they moved to Oregon, making the journey by wagon. Three months after starting, they reached the Grande Ronde valley. Joseph, Wallowa County, Oregon Wallowa County native, Lillian Melissa Quinn, died Sept. 1, 1989, at Wallowa Memorial Hospital. She was born April 22, 1904, at Joseph, the daughter of John and Bessie (Halsey) Simmons. On April 21, 1921, she married Ernest E. Quinn, at Enterprise. He preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 1967. She was a lifelong resident of Wallowa County. Mrs. Geo. W. Conley Passes Rebecca S. Hooper was born near Baltimore, Maryland, May 25th, 1828, and died at Dayton, Wash., April 10th, 1920, at the age of nearly 92 years. With her husband, Geo. W. Joseph, Oregon Dr. Robert Neil Blackburn, 77, of Cushing, Okla., and formerly of Joseph died July 27. Dr. Blackburn was born Aug. 1, 1929, in Cushing, Okla. He served as a jet fighter pilot in the Korean War and taught other pilots how to fly by instrument.
