Samuel W. Buzzard was born in Harrison county, Missouri, September 10, 1859. He is the son of Andrew L. Buzzard, whose biography appears in this work. Our subject removed with his parents to Daviess county at the age of four years and has resided here ever since. He completed his education at the State University, at Columbia, and in 1877 entered the bank as clerk. Two years later he was promoted to the position of cashier and has since discharged the duties of that responsible office with entire satisfaction to all the patrons of the bank. Chapman is a native of West Virginia, born near Manchester, Hancock County, in the widely quoted “Pan-handle district,” March 23, 1818, and there he was reared, educated, and lived until the 5th of April, 1854. S. H. Harrison, attorney-at-law and loan agent, was born in Rutland County, Vt., January 17, 1837. Removed to Dodge County, Wis., in the fall of 1855. In the fall of 1859 he went to Minnesota. In 1862 he enlisted in the United States Army, in Company B, Seventh Minnesota Volunteer Infantry, and was discharged in January 1866. He was commissioned first lieutenant of Company C, Sixty-fifth Infantry, and returned to Wisconsin; thence to Harrison County, Mo. Moses Brown, Jr., was born near New Castle, Henry County, Indiana, June 22, 1831, where he lived eight years, when his parents, Joshua and Sarah S. Brown, removed to Missouri and settled on a farm about six miles northeast of Gallatin. Upon this farm both his parents died, his mother in 1856, and his father in 1871.
