Halfway, Oregon Edward Conway Ankrom, 85, a longtime Halfway resident, died Dec. 22, 2000, at St. Elizabeth Health Services. His memorial service will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Halfway Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. President Lon Nalder of the LDS Church will officiate. Disposition was by cremation at the Eastern Oregon Pioneer Crematory. Mr. Ankrom was born Sept. 17, 1915, at Salem, W.Va., to Connie Eli Ankrom and Bertha Maude Matheny. Obituary of Mrs. Elsie Lee Bloyed Scoggin Butler

Elsie Lee Butler (1929-2008), a former Halfway, Oregon, resident, died on June 2, 2008, at her home in Yuma, Arizona. Born on July 19, 1929, in Venita, Oklahoma, to Vernie and Iva Bloyed, she was raised in Gustine, California. Elsie married Bob Scoggin and had three children. In 1971, she married Walt Butler, blending their families to raise seven children. Elsie worked as a nurse and moved to Halfway in 1976, where she actively volunteered in the community. She was survived by her children, stepchildren, siblings, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

After an aggressive four-month battle with throat cancer, Carol Andrea Hesus, supportive wife and fun-loving mother, joined her grandmother in heaven on Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at 3:30 a.m. Andrea was 50 years old. Carol Andrea McKim was born in Baker, Ore., in 1957. Andrea attended schools in Baker and graduated from Pine Eagle High School in Halfway, Ore. Mrs. Fred Perkins Passes Away Last Eve Mrs. Fred Perkins of Halfway died at 10 o’clock last evening at the Underwood hotel, after an illness of many years with paralysis.
