Frances Draper Dies At Hospital Sarah Frances Draper, for the past 64 years a resident of Wallowa County died February 16, 1957 at the Wallowa Memorial Hospital, after a very short illness. Mrs. Draper was born April 7, 1874 in Missouri. She was the daughter of Thomas and Sarah Baldwin. In 1894 she was married at La Grande, Oregon to Judson W. “Brick” Johnson Murdered John Bear Enters Saloon From the Rear and Shoots Johnson Through the Head “Brick” Johnson, a notorious character of Wallowa county, was foully murdered in a saloon at Enterprise Monday evening at 7:30 by John Bear, a resident of the same city. Johnson had been tending bar in Ott Bros. saloon and on Monday afternoon Bear, who was intoxicated, attempted to crawl over the bar. Johnson prevented him from doing so and trouble arose. John Paul Curran, 85, of Enterprise died Dec. 16 at a care center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Katherine’s Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Father Peter Fernando officiating. Burial will be in the Enterprise Cemetery. Enterprise, Wallowa County, Oregon Died Coming To Town Nina Louise Lydell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Lydell, died Sunday evening while the family was coming to Enterprise from their home near Imnaha. When the family started from their home in the morning the child seemed to be in its usual health but on the way the child was taken violently ill and before medical aid could be reached died in the wagon. Enterprise, Wallowa County, Oregon, Chas. W. Berry died Monday morning at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Berry, of pneumonia resulting from influenza. He was ill only thirteen days.
