Lem Edward Wilson, 87, a longtime Northeastern Oregon farmer and rancher, died Jan. 3, 2006, at Ontario. His memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Bethany Presbyterian Church, 1712 W. Idaho Ave., in Ontario. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Prairie View Cemetery in Grangeville, Idaho. Lem was born on Sept. 22, 1918, near Nyssa. He was the seventh of 12 children. Haines Man Killed At Cove Ore Cove, Ore., Feb. 26, Albert C. Springer of Haines was electrocuted Saturday afternoon while repairing electric transmission wires three miles east of here. The dead man had been visiting at the home of John Rutter, electrician, and when Mr. Rutter was called to town Saturday afternoon Springer volunteered to repair the wires which had broken and fallen to the ground. There are no known original records or maps for the cemetery. It is proper to suppose that any such was lost in the Sumpter fire of 1917. The City of Sumpter now assumes cotrol. It was originally called Blue Mountain Cemetery and was owned by E.A. Case the Sumpter undertaker. There was an earlier cemetery in Sumpter near the NE corner of Auburn and Ibex Streets.
