DAVID W. JESSUP was born February 21, 1836, in Logan County, Ky.; his parents were Acey W. and Sarah (Johnston) Jessup. The father was a farmer; his death occurred in 1866, aged sixty; the mother died in November, 1857, aged forty. They were both reared in Logan County, and had seven children, four now living. David W. began life for himself at the age of twenty-one; he rented a farm for several years, and ‘in 1874 he came to his present location; he owns 110 acres of land, about thirty-five acres of which are well improved; this has been done by Mr. Jessup. He has been holding the office of Magistrate the past seven years; his continuous re-election evinces the high esteem in which he is held by his fellow-citizens. He was married January 15, 1858, to Miss Elizabeth E., daughter of William M. and Hannah B. (Jones) Lyon, both of Tennessee, coming therefrom in 1849. The father’s death occurred in January, 1875; he was well and favorably known in this county; he held the office of Magistrate for twelve years, up to the time of his death The mother is still living in this county, aged sixty-eight. Mr. and Mrs. Jessup have six children, viz.: Mary E. (is the wife of Thomas M. Sisney), Benjamin F., George T., John H., Sallie B. and Seth H. Both parents are members of the Baptist Church.
