Marie Linsley was born November 8, 1908 in rural Fremont, the daughter of Asa George & Carrie Lawson Phillippe. She graduated from Fremont High School in 1926. Marie was united in marriage to Gerald “Jerry” Linsley, February 7, 1942 in Lancaster, Missouri.
She was employed as a telephone operator in Fremont for 15 years and also worked for 15 years as a sales clerk at Sears in Ottumwa. She was a member of the Fremont United Methodist Church, 60+ Club, United Methodist Women, and enjoyed doing Genealogy work. Marie is survived by her sister, Vesta of Oskaloosa, and three nieces, Sandra (LaVerne) Stewart of Oskaloosa, Lois (Lowell) McCracken and Elnora Norris both of Fremont. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gerald in 1971, a brother, Lee Phillippe, five sisters, Thelma Smith, Floy Perkins, Hazel Norris, Faye Simmons and Merle Hoffman. Two nephews, Lee Norris and Jay Norris, and a niece Darlene Crookham.
Memorials may be made in her name to either the Fremont United Methodist Church or Fremont Rescue Unit.
