KIRKVILLE–Austin L. Failyer, 64 died at 5:30 a.m. today at the Mahaska Hospital at Oskaloosa where he had been a patient for two weeks.
He had been born January 10, 1888 near Fremont, the son of James and Margaret Spear Failyer. He had spent his life in the Kirkville community.
He was married Oct. 31, 1917 to Lucy Abernathy, who survives. He also leaves two daughters, Mrs. Merle J. Johnson of South Gate California, who with her family had arrived before his death, and Mrs. Walter Brown of Kirkville; a son PVT. Gene Failyer, who reported Monday to Camp Kilmer, N.J.; three sisters; Mrs. Charles Stroud, Mrs. Chester Readnour and Mrs. Grover Johnson all of Richland; two brothers; Othniel of near Ottumwa, and Paul of Newton, and four grandchildren.
The body is at the Community Funeral Home at Ottumwa. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kirkville Methodist Church, in charge or the Rev. William Stohlberg; the pastor. The casket will be taken to the church at noon. Burial will be at Westview Cemetery.
