Velma “Juanita” Wright, 86, formerly of Baker City, died Aug. 19, 2007, at Valley View Retirement Facility in Boise, Idaho.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007, at 1 p.m. at Gray’s West & Co. Pioneer Chapel, 1500 Dewey Ave., in Baker City. Pastor Mel Harris of the First Lutheran Church will officiate. A reception will follow at the First Lutheran Church, 1734 Third St.
Juanita was born March 7, 1921 in Portland to Alfred & Hilja (Taskinen) Deining. She attended school in Helix, Portland and Gresham.
She married Earl Wright Dec. 8, 1949 in Baker City. The couple lived in Baker where Juanita was a stay-at-home wife and mother.
Juanita was very active in the First Lutheran Church and enjoyed crocheting and knitting, especially baby sweaters, and quilting.
She is survived by her children: Cherylin and Roger Bell of Boise, Faye and Jerry Winkle of La Grande, and Janet Adduci of Portland; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and infant daughter Carole Juanita, son Gary Wright and husband Earl.
