Lyon, Johannah Madora “Jo” Griffin Mrs. – Obituary

Johannah Madora “Jo” Lyon, 96, of New Plymouth, Idaho, died Dec. 12, 2007, at Royal Villa Care Center in Payette, Idaho.

Mass of the Christian Burial was at 10 a.m. today at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Fruitland. The Rev. Calvin Blankinship officiated. The committal service was at 1 p.m. PST at Mount Hope Cemetery with the Rev. Julian Cassar officiating. Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel of Payette was in charge of arrangements.

Jo was born on Nov. 6, 1911, at Baker City to James and Mary Lonzway Griffin. She was a graduate of the Intermountain Institute at Weiser, Idaho.

She married Bruce Lyon at Rye Valley on Nov. 26, 1930. Together they farmed at Rye Valley, Oregon Slope, Drewsey and New Plymouth, Idaho. Jo work at Ore-Ida Foods and upon her retirement from there in 1975, she worked at several dress shops until retiring again at the age of 86.

She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church at Fruitland. Jo enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, sewing, canning, and being a 4-H leader.

Survivors include her three children and their spouses, Jodell and Dennis Barber of McCall, Idaho, James and Karen Lyon of Fruitland, and Patrick Lyon of New Plymouth; a sister-in-law, Lucy Gibbs; five grandchildren and their spouses, Thomas and Jennifer Barber, Paige and Greg Ugrin, Tyler and Kelsey Lyon, Leslie and Dave Allen, and Lisa Lyon; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Lyon; and a grandson, Dalin Lyon.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Barbara Little and her staff at Royal Villa Care Center.
