Services Held For Harry Huffman
Harry Wayne Huffman passed away on September 3, 1967 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Baker, Oregon after being a patient their for several months. He had been in failing health for the past two years.
He was born on March 23, 1882 in Pyles Canyon near Union, Oregon. He was the son of William H. and Sophia Catherine Huffman. He was the last member of the family of six boys and one daughter. Mrs. M. Etta Dobbin.
Harry was an old timer in Union and Wallowa County. For many years he employed by Keltner and Skaggs Hardware in Enterprise and Erb Hardware in Lewiston, Idaho.
Funeral services were held in the West and Company Memorial Chapel in Baker, on Wednesday, September 6, at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Joe Jewett officiating. The soloist sang “Beyond the Sunset” and God Hath Not Promised.” The organist was Mrs. Esther Jackson. Pallbearers were Floyd Pearson, Vernon Johnson, Ted Morin, Don Riggle, Howard Norris, and Walter Love.
The committal service was held at the Union Cemetery, Union, Oregon.
Survivors include two daughters: Mrs. Beverly Homan and Mrs. Nadine Leavens; seven grandchildren, and ten nieces and nephews.
