Etowah Mound – A large artificial mound on the N. bank of Etowah r., 3 m. s. E. of Cartersville, Bartow co., Ga. With 4 or 5 smaller mounds it is on a level bottom in a bend of the stream, the immediate area, covering about 56 acres, flanked on one side by an artificial ditch that extends in a semicircle from a point on the river above to the river below. Marjorie Elaine Wilcher, 72, of Louisville, Ga., a former longtime Baker City resident, died Feb. 8, 2006, after a brief illness. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church at Louisville. The Rev. Larry Montgomery will officiate. Burial will be in the family plot at the Davisboro City Cemetery. Mrs. Wilcher was born on July 24, 1932, at Baker City and lived here most of her life. She was employed by the Haines Telephone Co. for a number of years and by the Oregon State Police.
