Old Ebenezer Church, Effingham County GA – 1763 Baptisms

Mary, daughter of George Ziegler and Catharine his wife, was born in the night between Jan. 2-3, 1763, and baptized in the afternoon of the 3rd in Zion Church. Sponsors were John George Haid, Mrs. A. M. Flerl and Mrs. B. Kogler.

Johanna, daughter of an Englishman, namely the deceased Thomas Baxle and his wife Ferribay, six years old, was baptized Feb. 2, 1763 in Bethany. Sponsors were Mary and Matthew Weinkauff.

Anna Catharine, daughter of Matthew Biddenbach and his wife Anna Margaret, was born in the night between Feb. 23-24, 1763, and baptized on the 24th. Sponsors were Hangleiter and wife.

David Schubtrein, son of Joseph Schubtrein and his wife Mary, was born March 18, 1763 before day, and baptized on the same day. Sponsors were Nicholas Schubtrein and his wife Ann.

Sarah, daughter of Henry Meyer and his wife, was born March 21 early, and baptized the same day. Sponsors were J. A. Treutlen, his wife and Mrs. Taescher.

Joseph, son of Jacob Tussing and his wife, was born April 22, 1763, and baptized on the 23rd. Sponsors were Paul Finck and his wife and George Faul.

Daniel, a Negro boy, was born May 13, 1763, and baptized on the 17th. Sponsors were Pastor Lemcke and his wife.

Elizabeth, daughter of John George Rieser and his wife Sibylla Regina, was born July 19, 1763 in the evening and baptized on the 20th. Sponsors were Faul and his wife, Jacob Mohr, sen. and his wife.

Jonathan, child of John Martin Paulitsch and his wife Ursula, was born July 21, 1763, and was baptized in the afternoon of the same day. Sponsors were J. L. Wertsch, Rottenberger and Mrs. Boltzius.

Rosina, daughter of Matthias Zettler and his wife Catharine Elizabeth, was born Aug. 9 in the evening and baptized on the following afternoon. Sponsors were Mr. Kieffer, his wife and Mrs. Kronberger.

Mary and Thomas, twin children of Barth. Mackh and his wife Mary, were born Aug. 13, 1763 in the evening and baptized on the 14th. Sponsors for Mary were Paul Finck, his wife and Sophia Bidenbach; for Thomas, John Peter Freyermuth, Thomas Mackh and Mary Weinkauff.

Catharine, daughter of Mr. John Casper Wertsch and his wife Hannah Elizabeth, was born Aug. 13, 1763 in the evening and because the child was feeble, it received lay baptism, which was confirmed on the 15th, when the sponsors were Mr. John Flerl and wife.

Jonathan, child of John Klein and his wife Chris-tine, was born Aug. 19, 1763 before evening, and baptized on the 20th. Sponsors were Mr. Treutlen, Joseph Leitner and Anna Barbara Deininger.

Timothy, son of Christian Birck and his wife Ursula, was born Sept. 17, 1763, and baptized on the 18th. Sponsors were Pastor Boltzius and his wife and Ruprecht Zimmerebener.

Christian, a Negro boy, was born in Schweiger’s house, Sept. 28, 1763 and baptized the 29th. Sponsors were George Schweiger and his wife.

David, a Negro boy, was born on Mr. Rabenhorst’s plantation, Sept. 29th, and baptized on the 30th. Sponsors were Mr. Rabenhorst and his wife.

Mary, daughter of Surgeon Mayer and his wife, was born Oct. 6, 1763 in the evening and baptized on the 11th. Sponsors were Pastor Boltzius, his. wife and Apollonia Rieser.

Matthew, son of Lewis Weitmann and his wife Anna Eva, was born in the night between Nov. 8-9, 1763, and baptized in the afternoon of the 9th. Sponsors were Pastor Lemcke, Paul Finck and Mrs. Finck.
