Old Ebenezer Church, Effingham County GA – 1761 Baptisms

John, child of John Heinle and his wife Mary, was born Dec. 30, 176o, and baptized Jan. 1, 1761. Sponsors were George Faul and his wife Rebecca.

David, son of John Ulrich Reidlinger ,and his wife Waldpurga, was born Jan. 6, 1761, and baptized the same day. Sponsors were Ruprecht Zimmerebener and Anna Margaret Zittrauer.

Christiana, daughter of John Jacob Haeuseler and his wife Anna Mary, was born March 19, 1761, and baptized on the same day. Sponsors were Jacob Ulrich Neidlinger, Mrs. Leimberger and Anna M. Zimmerebener.

John, child of John Gugel and his wife Anna Mary, was born here April 1, 1761 in the evening and baptized on the 2nd. Sponsors were John Christopher Kraemer and his wife and August Zimmerebener.

Jonathan, son of Peter Arnsdorff and his wife Barbara, was born early on Apr. 6, 1761, and baptized the same day. Sponsors were Christopher Kraemer, John Kornberger and Ursula Landfelder.

John Paul, son of Jacob Tussing and his wife Mary, was born April 16, 1761 in the evening, and baptized the 17th. Sponsors were Paul Fincke and his wife, George Faul and Rebecca his wife.

Johanna, daughter of Mr. John Louis Mayer and his wife Barbara, was born April 13, 1761 in the evening after 9 o’clock, and baptized the 17th. Sponsors were Pastor Boltzius and Mrs. Catharine Lemcke and Margaret Ewen in Savannah.

Margaret, a child of English parents John Couchlan and Catharine his wife, was born Dec. 4, 1760, and baptized May 4, 1761. The place of sponsors was taken by the mother and Joh. Cas. Wertsch and Chr. Birck.

Gratiosa, daughter of John Martin Paulitsch and his wife Ursula, was born at midnight before May 7, 1761, and baptized the same day. Sponsors were Christopher Rottenberger, Mrs. Boltzius and Mrs. H. Eliz. Wertsch.

Martha, Master Kiefer’s Negro girl, was born in the night between May 3-4, 1761, and baptized on the 12th. Master Kiefer and his wife acted as sponsors.

Rebecca, daughter of John George Schneider and his wife Barbara, was born June i, 1761 early in the night, and baptized on the 2nd. Sponsors were George Faul and Rebecca his wife and Mrs. Krause.

Nathanael, son of Matthias Zettler and his wife Elizabeth, was born June 7, 1761, and baptized the same day. Sponsors were John Caspar Wertsch and his wife and Theobald Kiefer.

Mary, Matth. Aschbacher’s Negro girl, was born in Savannah, Jan. 6, 1761, and baptized in Bethany, June 12, 1761. Sponsors were Aschbacher and his wife.

Thomas, son of Thomas Schweikhofer and Hannah his wife, was born July 8, 1761, and baptized the same day. Sponsors were August Zimmerebener and Elizabeth Kogler.

Paul, child of Barthol. Mackh and his wife, was born July 16, 1761 in Bethany, and baptized the 17th. Sponsors were Paul Finck and his wife, Michael Weinkauff and Sophia Bidenbach.

Samuel, Zischler’s son, appears to have been forgotten to be recorded. He was born May 12, 1761, and baptized the 13th. Paster Boltzius and his wife were sponsors.

John William, son of John Henry Busch and Scholastica his wife, was born in Savannah, July 4, 1761, and baptized on the 11th. Sponsors were John Adam Keller and Anna Mary Lang.

Charles, a Negro child on Mr. von Muench’s land, was born in the forenoon and baptized in the afternoon of Aug. 18, 1761. Sponsors were Mr. John Charles von Muench and his wife, who were represented by Pastor Henry Lemcke and Mrs. Kraemer.

Anna Margaret, daughter of John George Pechle and his wife Barbara, was born Aug. 20, 1761, and baptized the same day. Sponsors were Jacob Mayer and wife and Mrs. Treutlen.

Angelica, daughter of Caspar Heck and Anna his wife, was born in Bethany, Sept. 5 in the afternoon, and baptized on the 6th in Jerusalem Church. Sponsors were Zimmerebener, Mrs. Mueller in Bethany and Mrs. Kalcher.

Jonathan, child of John Schneider and Catharine his wife, was born Sept. 6, 1761, and baptized the same day in Zion Church. Sponsors were Zimmerebener, Krause and his wife.

John George, child of John George Buntz and his wife, was born Sept. 13, 1761 in Bethany and baptized the same day. Sponsors were Christian Bidenbach, Mrs. Michler.

John Andrew, child of John Christopher Heintz and his wife Regina Barbara, was born Sept. 20, 1761, and baptized the same day. Sponsors were Mr. Henry Lemcke and his wife and Christopher Kraemer.

Mrs. Rabenhorst gave birth to a son on Sept. 18, 1761, which died at birth. God comfort the sorrowing parents for this bereavement with His heavenly comfort.

Christian Israel, child of John George Haid and Eleanora his wife, was born in the night between July 27-28, 1761, and baptized on the 28th in Zion Church. Sponsors were Hans Flerl and his wife and John George Ziegler.

David, son of John Klein and his wife Christine, was born in Bethany Oct. 13, 1761 in the afternoon, and baptized on the 14th in Jerusalem Church. Sponsors were Joseph Bitner, John Gugel and Anna Barbara Rahn.

John Jacob, son of the tailor George Uland, was born in Ado–(?) Oct. 16, 1761, and baptized Oct. 21. Sponsors were Jacob Theuss and his wife Dorothea.

Johanna Christiana, child of John Rentz and his wife Barbara, was born in the night between Nov. 22-23, 1761, and baptized on the 23rd. Sponsors were Mrs. Lemcke, Mrs. Faul.

Up to this point the baptized have been reported.

Benaiah, son of Mr. John Caspar Wertsch and his wife Hannah Elizabeth, was born Nov. 29, 1761 and baptized the 30th. Sponsors were John Flerl and his wife and Rup. Zimmerebener.

Sponsors were Mr. George Gasper Wertsch and Hannah Elizabeth his wife, both of whom were represented by John Ulrich Neidlinger and the wife of John Kaehli jun., and Mary Flerl.
