Elgin, Oregon Benny “Ben” Luse, 60, formerly of Elgin, died May 12 in Everett, Wash. A funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. June 7 at the Christian Life Center in Elgin. La Grande, Oregon Keith Mickey Lundgren, 89, of Boise and formerly of La Grande died Jan. 9 at his home. Mr. Lundgren was born May 6, 1917, in Osceola, Neb. As a young man growing up on the Great Plains, Keith was drawn to the romance of the railroad and the possibilities of the West. After graduating from Grand Island High School in Nebraska, he joined the U.S. Navy. He spent six years, just prior to World War II, aboard the U.S.S. North Powder, Union County, Oregon In North Powder, Tuesday, December 18th, Mrs. Heivig Lun, wife of Andrew Lun, aged 36 years. Mrs. Lun was a native of Norway and was born in the city of Porsgerund, Norway. In 1880 Andrew Lun came to America to try his fortune in this new world. After four years he sent for his wife and child they arriving in 1884. She leaves four children the youngest an infant of a few days. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon at West Lawn Funeral Home. Mrs. Luhrs was born March 1, 1920 in North Powder to Dick and Enolia (Gorham) Brothers. Archie E. Low, well-known young man of Union, who served some time with the A. E. F. in France, died at his home in Union Saturday night, after a long illness. Mr. Low was gassed while overseas, and never regained his health. He came home to Union last summer, but upon the advice of physicians went to Seattle and entered the government hospital there. His condition did not improve however, and he was brought home by his father last week. Her ashes will be spread at Cove Cemetery, followed by a family celebration of life at the Cove Pool at a time and date to be announced later. Union County Pioneer Died Saturday Evening Jacob Long, an aged man, and well known pioneer resident of Elgin and Union County, died at his home in this city, Saturday evening, January 21, 1911, after an illness of only a few days. A funeral service is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday at the VFW Hall in Huntington. Bruce was born June 1, 1943, to Carlos and Dorothy Lofton in Ontario. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was retired from the Union Pacific Railroad.
