Besides her husband she is survived by five children, Mrs. Leston Downes, Mrs. Lester Mooney of Cottage Grove, Harvey, Eileen, and Mary at home. Wendell W. Prater, 74, of Ellensburg, died Thursday at his home following an extended illness. He was born March 11, 1913, at the family home near Ellensburg on land he has continued to farm throughout his life. He was the oldest of the three children of Cordy and Velma Ann (Weaver) Prater. Mrs. Martha Prater, 87, valley pioneer, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Minnie Wangeman, on North Walnut Street, at 11 o’clock yesterday morning [March 11, 1934]. Mrs. Prater suffered a paralytic stroke Thursday evening and her condition gradually grew worse until her death. Conscious almost to the end, she seemed cheerful and talked to relatives present. Mrs. Felix G. (Alice) Prater, 87, died Sept. 23 [1970] in a Seattle nursing home. Mrs. Felix lived for 60 years in the Ellensburg-Thorp area and in 1953 retired as a housemother at Central Washington College and moved to Burien. She lived in Des Moines, Wash., the past two years. Jess C. Prater, 90, died Friday [February 28, 1975] at Kittitas Valley Community Hospital. A native son of pioneer parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Services at the IOOF Cemetery will take place at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday for Odie N. Phelps, former Ellensburg resident who died Friday March 13, 1959 in Seattle. He has lived in Seattle for the past 16 years. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of Seattle, a son, Frank Phelps of Ellensburg, a brother, Gilbert of Seattle and four grandchildren. Mrs. Mary Phelps, a resident of Ellensburg from 1884 to 1945, died recently [January 16, 1951] in Everett, where she has lived for the past five years. She was born in Pike County, Missouri, in 1867. Surviving are three sons, Gilbert of Everett, Tracy of Chelan, and Odie Phelps of Seattle; a sister, Mrs. Ella Wilson of Everett, and a brother, Sherman Smith, of Ellensburg. Bessie L. Phelps, 87, lifetime Ellensburg area resident, died Monday [November 8, 1976] at a local nursing home. She was born in Ellensburg, Sept. 15, 1889, a daughter of the late James E. and Elizabeth McEwen Ferguson. She attended Dysart School No. 5 in the Fairview district. She and Odie N.
