SPIERS, Mary Grace Todd9, (Seth H.8, Isaac7, Moses6, Hezekiah5, Caleb4, Samuel3, Samuel2, Christopher1) born Dec. 23, 1876, in Wakeman, O., married Sept. 26, 1906, Edward Bruce Spiers, who was born Nov. 4, 1871, died Oct. 18, 1914. She attended Oberlin College. After her marriage they went to live in Valdez, Alaska. She is now (1916) living with her mother in Wakeman, O. Children: I. Wallace Bruce, b. Oct. 31, 1908. II. Katherine Elizabeth, b. April 18, 1912, d. July 8, 1913.

Cooke, Jay Stewart – Obituary

Jay S. Cooke, 70, of 232 N. Delaware, died in a local hospital Sunday evening following an extended illness. A native of Washington, he was born in Ellensburg, January 25, 1896. He came with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Edwin N. Cooke, to the Colockum area when very young. He attended the local schools and was graduated from Wenatchee High School. He served in the Armed Forces during World War I. Mr. Cooke married Hazel Lundell [Doughatry] in Wenatchee. She preceded him in death in 1923. Anchorage resident Paul Thomas Adamson, 91, died Nov. 25, 2005, at his home of natural causes. A memorial service will be at 5 p.m. Dec. 1 at Kehl’s Forest Lawn Chapel. The Rev. Voss will officiate. Flowers are welcome. Mr. Adamson was born Feb. 27, 1914, in Scranton, Iowa. He moved to Anchorage in 1972 and worked as a Teamster for Matanuska Maid. He retired in 1978. Steven Eugene Young, 55, of Hereford and formerly of Blackfoot, Idaho, died May 2, 2005, at Holy Rosary Medical Center in Ontario after a long illness. His graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gilliland Cemetery in Sweet Home. Vault interment will be at Gilliland Cemetery. Elizabeth E. “Betty” Miles, 70, of Salem, a former longtime Granite resident, died Dec. 29, 2004, after a long battle with lung disease. At her request, there will be no memorial service.
