Frederick A. Wilson Genealogy

1. William1 Wilson, of Lynn, Mass., m. Priscilla Purchase and had four ch.:

  1. William, of Concord, Mass., was b. at Lynn, Aug. 28, 1664; d. Concord, Aug. 7, 1741. The age on his gravestone would show that he was the son of William1, and investigations show that he could not have been the son of any other known American Wilson. He was the town clerk of Concord, 1710-18; selectman, 1700-17, deputy and representative to the General Court, 1702, and many other times; was captain of the militia, and a man of prominence in the community and acquired a property of many thousands of dollars. He owned two slaves. m. Sarah Blood, who was his first cousin if he was son of the preceding Wilson, and this marriage would strengthen that supposition. They were m. July 1, 1686. She was b. May 5, 1661 at Concord, and d. there, Dec. 19, 1717; dau. of James and Hannah (Purchase) Blood. Their ch. were:

    4. Priscilla and
    5. William, was b. at Concord, Apr. 22, 1702; m. Deborah (???); lived at Concord, and had
      1. William, was b. at Concord, May 8, 1733; d. sometime before Feb. 28, 1778, when his death in the Continental army was reported. He m. Hannah Fuller of Stow, Mass.; b. there Apr. 20, 1739; and was m. at Concord by Rev. Daniel Bliss, Nov. 10, 1757. They lived at Concord. He was in Capt. Osgood’s company in the expedition to Nova Scotia, in 1755. She was dau. of Josiah and Mary (Whitaker) Fuller. Their ch. were:
        1. Samuel, was baptized at Concord, Mar. 26, 1758; d. at Stoddard, N. H., Mar. 29, 1844; m. Rachel Locke, b. probably at Chelmsford, Mass., d. Stoddard, Apr. 1, 1826; dau. of Daniel and Abigail Locke. She was a sister of Enos Locke Sr. of Stoddard. Samuel Wilson lived at Ashby, Mass., where his oldest ch. was b., also in Stoddard, where his son, Col. William also lived. He lived, for a time, further north on the Barrett place in Stoddard. Samuel was in the same regiment (but not the same company) as his father, in the Revolution, in 1777. He enlisted in Jan. 1776, before he was 18, and was in the “Siege of Boston.” He was also in the New York campaign. His ch. were
          1. Samuel, who lived and died in Nelson;
          2. William,
          3. Abigail, who m. Micajah Mears and lived in Stoddard;
          4. Hannah, who d. unm.
          5. Stephen, who d. unm.

        and probably others, including a Patty who m. Jesse Gould of Stoddard, and was understood to be a sister of Samuel.

    He m. (2), Dec. 18, 1718, Hannah Pierce of Charlestown, Mass., by Rev. Simon Bradstreet.

William6 Wilson, son of Samuel5, was b. Stoddard, in a log house, near the present one, Oct. 3, 1786; d. at Marlow, Feb. 7, 1874; m. May 3, 1813, Rhoda Gould, b. Stoddard, Sept. 10, 1795; d. there, Nov. 25, 1872; dau. of Simeon Jr. and Rhoda (Lane) Gould. Col. and Mrs. Wilson lived together more than 60 years. He was a deacon in the Universalist church in Stoddard (now a dormant church), a selectman 17 times, a representative to the General Court, a colonel in the militia, a surveyor, and a man of prominence in all good works. He had a high regard for education and several of his children were superior scholars and one, William Dexter, attained great distinction. His ch. all b. in Stoddard, were:

  1. Lydia Lane7, b. (date unknown); m. Marcus Davis (q. v.);
  2. Rev. William Dexter7, b. Feb. 28, 1816, a graduate of Norwich Vt. University in 1844 with degree A. M. and a graduate of Harvard Divinity School with degree D. D. He also received L. L. D. degree from Hobart College, N. Y., in 1849 and L. H. D. from Bedford University Tenn. in 1868, and the University of the State of New York in 1872. He was a clergyman of the Episcopal church, a professor many years in Hobart College, and in Cornell University, and the Dean of St. Andrew’s Theological School at Syracuse, N. Y., where he died, July 30, 1900;
  3. Daniel Manley7, b. (date unknown), a scholar and school teacher, who d. in Tenn.;
  4. Stillman Augustus7, b. Apr. 17, 1820, d. in Sullivan, Nov. 20, 1883;
  5. Frederic Almon7, b. Sept. 16, 1822, was a farmer and lived in Winchendon, Mass., Stoddard and Sullivan In Sullivan he lived on the Capt. Seward farm, marked H. Towne on the map. He d. in Sullivan, July 24, 1897; m. May 5, 1846, at Winchendon, Mass., by Rev. W. R. Stone, Cordelia Rebecca Mack, b. Plainfield, Vt., Mar. 22, 1827, d. Athol, Mass., Feb. 12, 1913; dau. of Daniel & Rebecca (Currier) (Ayers) Mack of Winchendon. Five ch.:
    1. Edgar Vinton8, b. Winchendon, July 1, 1847, was a lawyer, and lived in Athol, Mass.; m. July 23, 1879, Emma May Pollard, b. Hartford, Vt., Feb. 6, 1857; dau. of Wallace W. and Maria M. (Hall) Pollard of Hartford. They had no children.
    2. Manley Everett8, b. Stoddard, July 26, 1853, d. in Sullivan, Jan. 28, 1866;
    3. Elvira Melissa8, b. Stoddard, June 15, 1855; m. Edward A. Blood (q. v.);
    4. Hattie Cordelia Locke8, b. Sullivan, Oct. 10, 1860, 3. Hattie Cordelia Locke8 Wilson, dau. of Frederic Almon7, 1, m. Oct. 28, 1885 at Marlborough, by Rev. J. L. Merrill; Elmer Amasa Fuller, b. Marlborough, Dec. 27, 1863; son of Dea. Levi A. and Elvira (Ward) Fuller of Marlborough. (His mother was adopted by Mr. Joseph Bemis of Ashburnham, Mass). He was a station agent at Marlborough and Danvers, Mass. A son,
      1. Julian Elmer9 Fuller, b. Marlborough, Oct. 24, 1886.
    5. William Frederic Daniel8, b. Sullivan, Oct. 3, 1868, was a mechanic and later a barber in Keene; m. May 7, 1890, in Keene, by Rev. C. B. Elder, Leslie Abigail Gay; b. in Surry, Apr. 21, 1869; dau. of John P. and Lois Maria (Scripture) Gay of Keene. Three ch. b. Keene:
      1. Harold Ray9, b. Dec. 10, 1890, d. Jan. 5, 1891;
      2. Marjorie Louise9, b. Jan. 12, 1895;
      3. Helena9 Wilson, b. Dec. 6, 1900.
  6. Louisa Adeline7, b. Dec. 29, 1823; m. Franklin Jones of Marlow;
  7. Martha Ann7, d. unm.;
  8. Rhoda Elvira7, b. Jan. 7, 1829; m. Ebenezer Jones of Gilsum;
  9. Samuel Dinsmoor7, m. Elvira Barrett, lived many years in Springfield, Mass. and at Evanston, Ill.;
  10. Francis Lymanv, b. May 19, 1837. He was a good scholar, striving to obtain a collegiate education, and died, Nov. 25, 1856, just as life was giving great promise of a brilliant future.
