Rev. Daniel Hertz was born in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, on April 23, 1796.
In 1822 he began his pastoral work. During the period of 1822 to 1868 he served in the following German Reformed congregations :
- New Holland
- Muddy Creek
- Bethany, Ephrata
- Zion
- Kissel Hill
- Hellers
- Seldenrich
- Center
He died on September 22, 1868, in Ephrata, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
During his pastorate, from 1823 to 1868, he performed 1136 marriages, which are listed on the following pages. This copy was made from his original records, which are in the possession of Miss Lena M. Hertz, 135 E. Main St., Ephrata, Pa., who is his grand-daughter.
