James Ralph Haun, a farmer and a lifelong resident of the Lostine area, passed away in a Portland hospital Thursday morning, April 12, 1956, following a short illness. Rosary was recited Sunday evening at 7:30 o’clock and requiem mass was held Monday at 10 a.m., both services at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Wallowa. Father John Baumgartner, pastor, officiated. Mrs. Robert Duncan was at the organ and Mrs. Vern Mason was soloist. Casket bearers were Willard and John Lewis, James Read, Charles and Ed Hook, and Herman Wood, and burial was in the Wallowa Cemetery.
Mr. Haun was born at Lostine October 27, 1891, son of James F. and Ida Haun. On November 24, 1917, he was married in La Grande to Miss Catherine Goebel who survives him. Other survivors are three sons, William, James (Bud), and Ralph Joseph, of Lostine; a sister, Mrs. James (Edith) Clark, Lostine, and a brother, Dr. James Haun, La Grande; and three grandchildren.
He was a member of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church.

Requiem Mass was said at St. Margaret’s church here at 10 o’clock Monday morning and Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Sunday for James Ralph Haun. Mrs. Vern Mason sang a solo. She was accompanied by Mrs. Robert Duncan.
Mr. Haun died at 9 a.m. last Thursday at St. Vincent hospital at Portland following an operation. He had been at the hospital two days and had undergone a major operation on Wednesday of last week.
Mr. Haun was born at Lostine October 27, 1891, and attended school there and lived in the community his entire life. He was married to Katie Goebel on November 24, 1917. Mr. Haun operated a grain and stock farm near Evans. He is survived by his widow and three sons William, James and Joe; a sister, Mrs. James Clark of Lostine; a brother, Dr. James D. Haun of La Grande; and three grandchildren. Pallbearers were Willard Lewis, John Lewis, James Read, Charles Hook, Ed Hook and Herman Wood.
Burial was in Wallowa Cemetery.
