Vivian Lee Lovell Hook of Baker City died Sept. 12 at her brother’s home in Milton-Freewater. A Rosary will be conducted at 7 p.m. tonight at Bollman Funeral Home, with a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Katherine Catholic Church in Enterprise. Burial will follow at the Enterprse Cemetery.
Mrs. Hook was born Feb. 27, 1929 to Garrett Samuel and Evelyn Billerbeck Lovell. She attended Hurricane Creek School on Alder Slope, as well as schools in Enterprise and Joseph.
She marred the late Carl Eugene Hook Aug. 3, 1946 in Baker. She was a homemaker and ranch wife for many years, help her husband on two dairy farms. In their later years, she and Gene owned and operated a family-type lounge and bar.
Mrs. Hook cared deeply for her family, her faith and friends. She enjoyed all handcrafts, especially quilting and gardening. She was very active in politics, sports and loved a good cup of coffee. She was a former 4-H leader, a senior meals volunteer, a volunteer for the March of Dimes and worked with various alter society’s through her church.
She was a member of the Baker City Quilters, the Gamma Theta Sorority and the Catholic Church of Baker City.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Sharon and Donnie Glasson of Elgin, Trena and Terry Jones of Lostine, Jerry and Nancy Hook of Joseph; sisters Lois and Slyvester Malabag and Edna Sue Perrin; brothers Marvin and Evelyn Lovell of Milton-Freewater, Kyle and Donna Lovell of Union and Skip Lovell; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Shrine Children’s Hospital or St. Margaret Alter Society of Wallowa and in of Bollman Funeral Home in Enterprise.
