Clarence R. (Bud) Hayes, a son of pioneer Kittitas Valley parents, died at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Yakima Monday at the age of 65. He had been hospitalized for three weeks and had been in failing health for about a year.
Hayes was born at the family home in the Denmark district Dec. 13, 1891, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James T. Hayes, who settled on the ranch in 1883. He lived in the Denmark area until five years ago, when he moved to Yakima.
He was married Jan. 23, 1913, at Ellensburg to Leza Louise Blair. To them were born four sons and three daughters, all of whom survive. The sons are Les, Eugene and Robert Hayes, all of Ellensburg, and Richard Hayes of Eltopia, Washington. The daughters are Mrs. Una Waltgen, Ellensburg; Mrs. Ruth Louise Miller, Moses Lake, and Mrs. Dorothy Roletto, Ronald.
On Dec. 29, 1945, he was married to Alma Gibson at Yakima and a son and a daughter of that marriage survive. They are Alena 10, and Robert, 6, both of Yakima.
Also surviving are three brothers, Johnny and Harry K. Hayes, both of Ellensburg, and Abe Hayes of Kittitas; one sister, Mrs. Marie Bender of Ellensburg, and 16 grandchildren.
Time and place for the funeral services will be announced later by the Evenson Funeral Home.
The family requests that those wishing to make remembrances in lieu of flowers send them to the cancer Society in care of Frank Schnebly, Sr. Route 3.
