Alton R. Emmons Services Held
Word was received Friday, September 3, by Mrs. Charles T. Thornburg, Charles D. Emmons and Leonard B. Emmons of the passing of their brother, Alton R. Emmons, in San Francisco where he lived with his daughter, Mrs. Maxine Bindon. Funeral services were held in San Francisco Saturday afternoon, September 4.
Mr. Emmons was born January 2, 1879 in Illinois to John W. and Martha Emmons. He came to Wallowa county when a young man and was married at Enterprise on July 4, 1892 to Miss Flora Hawkins. For many years he and his wife had a restaurant in Enterprise near the location of the Ideal Cleaners. After leaving Enterprise the family lived for a time in Union. After the death of his wife he had made his home in San Francisco.
Besides the sister and two brothers, of Enterprise, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Anne Metcalf, of Downing, Calif., and Mrs. Maxine Bindon, of San Francisco; a son, Chester Emmons, of Reno, Nevada; a brother, George Emmons, of Baker; and a sister, Mrs. Lillie Davis, of Geneva, Nebraska. a son, Claude, and a daughter, Wilma, preceded him in death.
