Funeral serviced for Elizabeth C. (Lizzie) Long, 92 of 2215 2nd St., a long time Baker and Haines resident will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24 at Grays West & Co. Pioneer Chapel. Rev. Gerald C. Nelson of the United Methodist Church in Baker and Haines will officiate.
Interment will follow in the family plot at the Haines Cemetery. Mrs. Long died Monday evening at St. Elizabeth Nursing Home following a long illness.
She was born April 2, 1886 in Weatherford, Texas, the daughter of George and Mary Wallace Shock. She first came to Baker County when she was five years old. She received her education in Delta, Colorado and at Muddy Creek and Rock Creek. She was married to Archie Jackson Long in Baker on July 23, 1905. They ranched in Baker County in the Haines area for many years. Mr. Long preceded her in death in 1966. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Haines and a former member of the Rebekah Lodge and of the Haines Ladies Aid.
Survivors include five daughters, Dora Allen, Georgia Sieg and Mabel Dinnick all of Baker, Pansy Maxwell of Haines, and Beulah Bell of Redmond; one brother, Melvin Shock of Halfway; fifteen grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her son, Floyd A. Long in 1967 and one brother and one sister.
The family has suggested that friends who wish may donate to the charity of their choice in her memory. This may be done at Grays West & Co.
