John Jackson Dies At Age 83 Was Grandson of Early Settlers

John Edward Jackson age 83 of 1745 Guild Road, Woodland, Wa., passed away at Bess Kaiser Hospital in Portland, Sept. 14.

Graveside services were held Sept. 16 at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Vancouver, WA. Pastor L. E. Faasch officiating.

Mr. Jackson was born July 7, 1895 in Haines, OR. to G.W. and Ida Long Jackson. He attended schools in Haines and Muddy Creek.

As a young man, he farmed in Baker Valley. He moved from Haines to Woodland, WA, he owned and operated one of the most modern dairy farms in that area. He was married to Josephine Thompson of Eagle Valley in Richland in 1914.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine, a son Norman, two sister, Nina Dahl and Ora Collins, two brothers, Charlie Jackson, and Roy Welch.

Survivors include his daughter-in-law, Leatha Jenks, a grandson, Ronald Jackson of Woodland, a granddaughter, Sallye Muskie and four great grandchildren of Goldendale, WA., several nieces and nephews, as well as many cousins and friends living in the Baker area.

He was the grandson of Alonzo and Julia Ann Long, pioneers settling in Baker Valley.
