Biographical Sketch of Andrew Dall

Dall, Andrew; contractor; born, Markinch, Scotland, 1850; son of Andrew and Elizabeth Davidson Dail; public school education; married, 1873, Miss Alice Bennett; issue, three sons and three daughters; took up building as life work; early training under his father; admitted to partnership in 1874; in 1877, began independent business; erected the Wilshire Bldg., Fairmount pumping station, S. T. Everett’s residence; in 1888, firm of McAllister & Dall was formed; built residence of Samuel Mather, Society for Savings, Erie County Savings Bank, Buffalo, N. Y., one of the finest buildings in the country; Soldiers and Sailors Monument, Cleveland, etc.; Republican; strong advocate of public education and city betterment.
