Edna E. Schnebly, 78, lower Taneum retired schoolteacher, died at Ellensburg Hospital, Wednesday [September 1, 1971]. Born Oct. 24, 1892 at East Stanwood, Wash., she received her early teaching training at Bellingham, taught at Willipa Harbor and Fairview for many years. She came here as a young woman and married John Henry Schnebly in 1916 in Ellensburg.
She returned to teaching during the war and taught at Denmark [area around Ellensburg] and Kittitas until her retirement in 1960. She made her home in the lower Taneum District. She was a member of Episcopal Church, St. Anne’s Guild and Gallina Club as well as the Thorp Garden Club.
Her husband preceded her in death in 1967. Survived by two sons-Dorsey of Ellensburg and Charles H. of Daytona Beach, Fla. And two daughters-Mrs. Billie Louise Barker, San Diego and Mrs. Edna May French, Pasco; 12 grandchildren, four great grandchildren.
Funeral will be Saturday, 2 p.m. at Evenson’s with the Rev. James Blundell officiating; burial at IOOF Cemetery. Family suggests memorials to Heart Fund or Episcopal Church Memorial Fund.
