Akonapi Tribe
The Akonapi Indians are referenced in the ancient Walam Olum of the Delawares, suggesting they were involved in conflicts during migrations. Scholar Brinton associates them with the Akowini and believes they inhabited areas north of the Ohio River, likely in Ohio or Indiana. He further correlates Akowini with Sinako, and Towakon with Towako, linking the latter to the Ottawa, known to the Delawares as Taway. This identification implies that the Akonapi may represent the Sinago branch of the Ottawa people.
