Absentee Shawnee Tribe
The Absentee Shawnee Indians represent a faction of the Shawnee tribe that separated around 1845, migrating from Kansas to Indian Territory. By 1904, their population had reached 459 individuals, and they were overseen by the Shawnee school superintendent in Oklahoma.
