Abihka Tribe
The Abihka tribe, one of the oldest divisions of the true Muskogee, is recognized as one of the foundation towns of the Creek Confederacy. Historically known as “door shutters,” they protected the northern border and were closely allied with the Coosa Indians. The tribe absorbed the Natchez refugees and maintained significant cultural ties. The Abihka participated minimally in the Creek uprising of 1813 and faced removal to Oklahoma, where they established new towns, some of which have since been abandoned.
