Yocum

Jacob Yocum, born in 1837 in Stone County, was the son of early settlers Levi and Mary Yocum. He faced hardship after the death of his parents, taking on familial responsibilities at a young age. Yocum enlisted in the Twenty-fourth Missouri Infantry during the Civil War, serving with distinction for five years. After the war, he married Christina Wooley and raised a family on his farm near Galena. A devoted Democrat and active church member, he significantly improved his land, cultivating it over the years.
