Biographical Sketch of S. R. Worick

S. R. Worick, born March 4, 1842, in Stephenson County, Illinois, served in the Fifth Wisconsin Battery during the Civil War from 1861 to 1865. After moving to Jewell County, Kansas, in 1870, he contributed to the establishment of Jewell City. He was appointed Postmaster in November 1874 and has held the position since. A member of the A. O. U. W., he married Lizzie H. Matter in 1867 and they have four children: Nelly, Lewis, Ralph, and Mabel.
