Edmund Ingalls, son of Robert, was born about 1598 in Skirbeck, Lincolnshire, England. He immigrated in 1628 to Salem, Massachusetts and with his brother, Francis, founded Lynn, Massachusetts in 1629. He married Ann, fathered nine children, and died in 1648.
The Andrew Witham house, likely built in the early 1800s, was the residence of Andrew Witham, a notable early settler from Bradford, Massachusetts. He first married Mehitable Kimball, with whom he had four children before remarrying twice. Witham was an influential figure in Blue Hill, serving as a town legislator and senator, and was known for his brick store. He was remembered fondly by the community for his kindness, passing away in 1851 at the age of 83.
Capt. Steven Norton, born March 22, 1789, in St. George, Maine, settled in Blue Hill, where he lived until his death on January 6, 1873. Harvey Edward Witham, 89, a longtime resident of Baker City, passed away on October 19, 2005. Born on April 30, 1916, he contributed significantly to the community through his work in construction, including projects such as local churches and the Baker High School stadium. A veteran of World War II, he served as a carpenter in New Guinea. He was an active community member, holding various board positions and engaging in hobbies like woodworking and stained glass. He is survived by his daughters, grandchildren, and a great-grandchild on the way.
Evelyn Witham Grant, aged 90, passed away on October 8, 2002, in Clackamas. A memorial service was held on October 15 at Zeller Chapel of the Roses, with interment at Willamette National Cemetery. Born on November 26, 1911, in Baker City, she graduated from Baker High School in 1929 and worked for J.C. Penney. She married W. C. Grant in 1941 and contributed to the war effort during World War II. Evelyn is survived by her daughter Mary, son Jim, and two brothers.
