Interspersed throughout are handwritten notes. The scrapbook commences on 22 May 1897 and ends on 24 January 1899 with a final handwritten note. William Welch, Body Rests Home City Lot The funeral services at the Baptist church Tuesday afternoon for the late William Welch, whose death was reported in this newpaper last week, were well attended. Rev. A.L. Wilson, local pastor, had charge of the services at the church while the Odd Fellows, of which order Mr. Welch was a member, conducted the services at the Haines cemetery, where the body was laid to rest. Welch, M. H., Middlebury, was born in Ireland, County Sligo, on September 14, 1820. He came to America with his parents in 1830, and settled in Brandon, Rutland county, Vt. He received his education in the public schools of this town, and remained on the farm until eighteen years of age.
