Judge Joshua J. Walton, born on April 6, 1838, in Rushville, Illinois, had a varied upbringing, moving through several states before settling in Oregon. He served in various public roles, including county judge of Lane County, and contributed to the establishment of the University of Oregon. Dr. I. N. Walton was born on August 19, 1827, in Henry County, Tennessee, to Simeon and Mary Walton. Educated at McLemoresville College, he studied medicine with his uncle and practiced in various counties before settling on his farm in Logan County in 1857. He transitioned to agriculture by 1868 and owns 1,600 acres. Married to Olive C. Watkins in 1856, they had two children. Dr. Walton is affiliated with the Baptist Church and the Western Star Lodge of Springfield, Tennessee.
