Biography of John Wagener

John Wagener, born on June 30, 1833, in Germany, immigrated to the United States in 1852, seeking better opportunities. He moved to New York City and learned the wagon-making trade before journeying to the Pacific Coast. In Idaho, he worked in placer mining and later on lumber mills, contributing to the local mining industry. He became a successful businessman, co-owning the Trook and Jennings mine and five-stamp mill, alongside various ranches. Wagener has been instrumental in Idaho’s development while maintaining a private life. He married Christina Nelson in 1884, and they have one daughter, Alice.
