Weymouth ways and Weymouth people

Edward Hunt’s “Weymouth ways and Weymouth people: Reminiscences” takes the reader back in Weymouth Massachusetts past to the 1830s through the 1880s as he provides glimpses into the people of the community. These reminiscences were mostly printed in the Weymouth Gazette and provide a fair example of early New England village life as it occurred in the mid 1800s. Of specific interest to the genealogist will be the Hunt material scattered throughout, but most specifically 286-295, and of course, those lucky enough to have had somebody “remembered” by Edward.

I’ve heard my grandmother tell a lot of her experiences during slavery. She remembered things well as she was a grown woman at the time of the war of the Rebellion. Joseph, Oregon News of the death of Mrs. Sarah Vest of Puyallup, Wash., was received in Joseph, Tuesday. Mrs. Vest was a pioneer resident of Joseph and suffered a paralytic stroke recently and never recovered. Funeral will be held in Joseph and burial in Prarie Creek cemetery. Obituary next week. Services Held For Albert Vest Albert Raymond Vest, a sawmill worker of Joseph, who had been in ill health for the past six months, passed away on January 17, 1969 at Wallowa Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient for nine days. Mr. Vest was the son of William Harvey and Ellen Melissa Vest and was born on October 27, 1905 at Phillipsburg, Kansas. He had lived in Wallowa County for 58 years and was a veteran of World War II.
