Y., in 1823. He died July 11, 1911. Children: I. Walter, b. Aug. 2, 1876, m. Dec. 29, 1909, Mabel Westerman, of Safford, Ariz., and had issue: (1) James Myron, b. Oct. 16, 1910; (2) Margaret Emma, b. June 4, 1913. II. Carrie Sophia, b. Nov. 23, 1877; she lived at 339 Magee Ave., Rochester, N. Y.

The son Joseph was born in Illinois in 1850, and two years later made the journey to California with his father and mother, the latter of whom died the same year; while the former returned to Illinois in 1855, taking the boy with him. William Henry, fourth son of Samuel and Charity (Cummings) Truesdale, was born near Rochester, New York, October 30, 1844. His elementary education was acquired in the district school and at private academies, and he then prepared for college in the Benedict Classical School in Rochester. He took the arts course in the University of Rochester, was graduated with the degree of Bachelor of Arts, and two years later the degree of Master of Arts was conferred upon him.
