Biography of William Henry Truesdale

William Henry Truesdale, born on October 30, 1844, in New York, was the fourth son of Samuel and Charity Truesdale. He received his education at local schools and the University of Rochester, earning both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree. Although he studied law, he chose a career in education, serving as principal at various schools, including in Geneva, New York, where he became superintendent in 1891. He was affiliated with the Republican Party and the Presbyterian church, and he married Agnes E. Young, with whom he had three children.

Biographical Sketch of Joseph Truesdale

Joseph Truesdale, born in Illinois in 1850, journeyed to California with his parents before moving back to Illinois after his mother’s death. In 1862, he crossed the Rocky Mountains with his father to settle in Grande Ronde valley. Educated in Upper Santiam, he later managed various businesses including a livery stable and a hotel. He married twice, first to Ella Shore and then to Emma Lewis, with whom he had a daughter, Ettie. Truesdale is recognized for his integrity and contributions during the Nez Perce and Bannack wars.
