Svoboda

Frank J. Svoboda, born on May 1, 1874, in Bohemia, was a notable publisher and the founder of The American, a prominent Bohemian newspaper in Cleveland. Educated in local schools, he married Josephine Holpuch in 1896 and had four children. Svoboda’s newspaper became a vital source of information for the Bohemian community and was recognized as one of the best in the country. He held leadership roles in various organizations, including the American Association of Foreign Newspapers.
