Unfortunately, much of the family history has been lost due to a fire that destroyed their records, resulting in limited available information about their lives.

Biographical Sketch of Thomas Henry Stilts

Thomas Henry Stilts, born in 1835 in Bradford, New York, was the son of John Robert and Elizabeth Stilts. A dedicated farmer throughout his life, he married Sarah Parks on December 14, 1855. The couple had three children: John R., Robert C., born April 28, 1861, and Carrie, born March 16, 1863. Thomas Henry Stilts passed away on May 16, 1898.

Biographical Sketch of John Robert Stilts

John Robert Stilts, born February 8, 1858, in Hopewell, New York, was educated at local schools and Union Academy. He initially farmed before working in sales and managing a store. In 1896, he acquired a general store in Chapin, New York, gaining a reputation as a successful merchant. A Democratic politician, he served multiple terms as justice of the peace and was active in the local Odd Fellows lodge. He married Hattie E. Deuel in 1893 and had three children: Paul, Doris, and Florence.
