Biography of John Charles Rykert, M. P.

John Charles Rykert, born on March 10, 1832, in St. Catharines, is a prominent lawyer and politician. He was educated in St. Catharines and Toronto, called to the Bar in 1854, and has achieved significant success in law. Rykert served as Reeve of Grantham and St. Catharines and held numerous agricultural and educational leadership roles. A Conservative, he represented Lincoln in the old Parliament, the Ontario Legislature, and has been elected to the Dominion Parliament. He is also a Master Mason and a member of the Church of England. Rykert married Annie Maria Hawley and has eight living children.
