Biography of A. B. Rabbeson
A.B. Rabbeson, born in New York in 1824, embarked on a life of adventure following his father’s death. After numerous wanderings, he arrived in Oregon and then Puget Sound, where he became a pioneer settler. He founded the Puget Sound Lumber Company and operated the first mill in the region. Rabbeson also explored Hoods Canal and actively participated in local affairs, including the Indian War of 1855. Later, he served as the first mail carrier between Cowlitz and Olympia and engaged in various business ventures, ultimately settling in Olympia.
